Enrollment & Tours

We’re at 2010 Skillman St, Dallas, TX 75206, in the heart of East Dallas. For directions or to reach us directly, call (214) 821-7766 or visit our Contact page.

EDDC serves children from six weeks of age through pre-school, with classrooms organized into Infants, Toddlers, Twos, Pre-K Threes, and Pre-K Fours.

Reach out through the form on our Contact page, or email Assistant Director Pam Beaty directly at eddcad@gmail.com with your child’s name, date of birth, and desired start date.

Enrolling at EDDC is easy — here’s how it works:

  1. Schedule a Tour — Visit us to see the classrooms, meet our teachers, and get a feel for EDDC firsthand. Reach out through our Contact page or email Assistant Director Pam Beaty at eddcad@gmail.com with your child’s name, date of birth, and desired start date.
  2. Check Availability — Our team will let you know what openings are available for your child’s age group and desired start date. Some classes, especially Infants, can have a significant waitlist, so we recommend reaching out as early as possible, even during pregnancy.
  3. Complete Enrollment — Once a spot is confirmed, secure your child’s place by completing enrollment paperwork and paying a one-time, non-refundable enrollment deposit equal to half of one month’s tuition. This deposit is separate from and not applied toward your child’s first month of tuition.

Classrooms & Curriculum

EDDC builds its own weekly lesson plans around a rotating theme, with activities designed to develop language, math, science, motor skills, and social-emotional growth side-by-side. Here’s a sample week from a Pre-K classroom, built around the theme “Nutrition & Fitness”:

AreaSample Activities
Art & WritingPainting with veggies, straw-blowing painting, egg carton and lunch box crafts, writing letters, coloring a rainbow of foods
Circle TimeSongs, class rules, learning colors/Spanish and fruit names, days of the week, months of the year
Language Arts / Phonic Awareness“How to Eat Healthy” discussions, healthy-choices stories, identifying foods, a scavenger hunt for healthy items
Movement, Games & MusicPaper-plate tennis, relay races, obstacle courses, pool noodle hockey, Simon Says, exercise songs
Science & MathFood pyramid activities, food sorting, counting steps, veggie & fruit graphing, measuring
Special ActivitiesCooking projects (healthy trail mix), a Friday field trip, and multicultural lessons on where fruits and vegetables come from

Themes and activities change weekly, so children experience a new focus area — like nutrition, community helpers, or seasons — every week throughout the school year.

Class sizes at EDDC are kept small to support individualized attention, with age-appropriate teacher-to-child ratios in every room:

  • Infants: up to 8 children with 2 teachers
  • Toddlers: up to 10 children with 2 teachers
  • Twos: up to 10 children with 1 teacher
  • Pre-K Threes: up to 14 children with 1 teacher
  • Pre-K Fours: up to 14 children with 1 teacher

EDDC maintains mandated Teacher/Student ratios set by Texas state licensing standards for each age group.

While each classroom’s day is tailored to its age group, a typical day follows a rhythm like this:

Yes — weekly fitness, dance, and (optionally) Spanish, plus seasonal extras like summer Splash Days and field trips for older classes. Full details and age eligibility are on our Programs page.

Tuition, Hours & Calendar

Tuition varies by age group and covers meals, snacks, and (for infants and toddlers) diapers and wipes. See our Tuition page for current monthly rates and enrollment fee details.

Yes — a caterer provides hot lunch and two snacks daily, plus drinks, at no extra cost. Families receive the month’s menu ahead of time so you always know what your child is eating. More on our approach to food is on the Programs page. You can view a sample menu here.

Let your child’s teacher or any staff member know about food allergies or sensitivities, including how to recognize a possible reaction. This information is posted in the classroom for staff reference. Meals are prepared to be kid-friendly and nutritionally balanced, and EDDC will make every effort to accommodate dietary needs, though you’re welcome to send a sack lunch on days the standard menu won’t work for your child. For children with severe allergies, EDDC recommends parents provide Benadryl and an EpiPen, kept in a locked medication box in the classroom, along with a signed Emergency Care Plan on file.

EDDC is open 7:30am–6:00pm with no added fees, and remains open on most DISD and RISD holidays to support working families. Please see the school calendar.

You can find the School Calendar here. EDDC follows an August-to-August school year, and children stay in the same class with the same teacher for the full year (placement is based on age as of September 1st). EDDC’s model is designed to give children more stability and consistency throughout the year. Re-enrollment for returning families occurs in the spring before the next school year starts in August.

Health, Safety & Licensing

Safety is built into daily routines at EDDC. Families check children in and out by hand via Brightwheel (no curbside drop-off), and anyone other than a custodial parent or guardian needs advance authorization and ID to pick up a child. Staff perform a quick daily health check at drop-off, and an emergency evacuation plan,  including designated relocation sites, is posted and on file. All staff are background-checked and trained annually on recognizing and reporting child abuse or neglect. Emergency contact numbers, exit routes, and allergy information for each classroom are posted in every room and the office.

EDDC is a licensed child-care center regulated by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). Our latest inspection report and the state’s minimum standards for licensed child-care centers are available for review on the parent information board at the Center, or online at dfps.state.tx.us. All staff are background checked and certified in First Aid/CPR.

EDDC strongly supports and encourages immunization according to Texas’s minimum state vaccine requirements, and current immunization records are kept on file for every student as required by state law. Texas law does allow certain immunization exemptions, which EDDC is required to accept , except during a declared epidemic, when Dallas ISD’s policy (which EDDC follows) requires all students to be immunized to attend.

Family Communication & Extras

Your child’s teacher will use Brightwheel to communicate with you individually about your child, or the class as a whole. Brightwheel is also used by EDDC for community-wide communications. Staff and teachers may post pictures to your child’s Brightwheel and share other information throughout the day.

EDDC’s administration and Board keep families informed primarily through email,  including important announcements, policy updates, and reminders about upcoming events. Each month, families also receive a newsletter recapping classroom happenings, upcoming dates, and Center-wide news, so you always know what’s coming up.

Yes. EDDC keeps a list of staff members who are available for private babysitting outside of school hours, in addition to Friday Night Sitting at the Center. These are independent, private arrangements between families and the sitter; EDDC does not manage scheduling or assume liability.
